With spring weather comes more Indiana road construction projects. The state police remind motorists to exercise caution when approaching a highway maintenance vehicle with it‘s yellow lights activated.
First Sgt. Dave Bursten says although Tuesday’s death of a road construction worker on I-80 was tragic, it serves as a reminder that the move over law applies for approaching highway maintenance vehicles as well.
The law requires motorists to change lanes away from an emergency vehicle with its lights activated if they can do so safely. Otherwise, they must slow down and proceed with caution.
